14-Day Morocco Desert Tour from Casablanca and back to  Casablanca

 

We visit the vibrant cities of Casablanca, Marakesh, Essaouira, and Fes, the beautiful village of Chefchaouen, and the endless Moroccan Sahara Desert.


 

Day 1: Casablanca - Rabat

 

 After you arrive in Casablanca, we visit the city and the biggest mosque in Africa, Hassan II. Later that day, we drive to Rabat, the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco.

Day 2: Rabat - Chefchaouen

 

After breakfast, we will go into the mountains of the Chefchaouen area, or Chaouen, as it is often called by Moroccans. The "Blue City" is a popular tourist destination due to its proximity to Tangier and the Spanish enclave of Ceuta. The name refers to the shape of the mountain tops above the town that look like two horns (chaoua).

Day 3: Chefchaouen - Fes

 

After breakfast, we depart to Fes via Moulay Idriss (the Holy City) and visit the Roman ruins of Volubilis. Lunch at Volubilis near Meknes, known as "The Versailles of Morocco". We will visit the monuments of Meknes and then go to Fes.

Day 4: Fes Guided Visit

 

After breakfast, the day will be devoted to discovering Fes, the oldest imperial city and a center of Arab-Muslim culture. Its old town was founded by Idriss II in the 8th and 9th centuries. We will visit the Mosque of the Andalusians, tanneries, the district potters, and the medina. After lunch at a palace in the medina, we visit Hispano-Moorish buildings, the Medersasand, and Nejjarine.

Day 5: Fes - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Erfoud - Merzouga Dunes

 

We wake up early for breakfast and depart for Midelt through the Middle Atlas Mountains where we stop for lunch. We continue to Erfoud along the Ziz Valley, passing a series of beautiful fortified villages whose architecture announces the pre-Saharan oases. We arrive at the dunes of Merzouga (Erg Chebbi).

Day 6: Dunes Erg Chebbi

 

After breakfast, you will have time to enjoy the Sahara of Erg Chebbi, the desert with the highest dunes in the world. You will take your camel caravan in time to watch the sunset in the dunes (about an hour and a half by camel). You will spend the night in a traditional nomadic tent to enjoy the silence of the desert sky filled with stars.

Day 7: Merzouga - Rissani - Todra Gorges 

 

After enjoying the picturesque sunrise, you head back to the hotel by camel. At your hotel, breakfast is waiting for you. We depart for Tinghir via Rissani, Erfoud, Tinejdad, and visit the Todra Gorges

Dinner and overnight at the kasbah near Todra Gorges.

 

Day 8: Todra Gorges - Roses Valley - Boumalne Dades - Ouarzazate  

 

After breakfast, we depart for Ouarzazate via Kelâa M'Gouna, where the annual festival of roses is held. After lunch, we continue through the Dades Valley, and the Valley of Roses. We stop to visit the Kasbah Ameridil before arriving in Ouarzazate, Morocco's cinema capital.

Day 9:  Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - Marrakech

 

We visit Ouarzazate, founded in 1928, which has a famous film studio where many movies and series such as Secret of Sahara, The Mummy, Prince of Persia, and Game of Thrones were filmed. Later, we stop to visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou before arriving in Marrakech in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Marrakech Guided Visit

 

After breakfast, all day will be devoted to visiting Marrakech, the "Pearl of the South", founded in the eleventh century. We will visit the Koutoubia, the Saadian Tombs, the Menara Gardens, and Bahia Palace. We go back to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, we visit the souks, the medina, and Jmaa El Fna Square, which teems with nightlife.

Day 11: Marrakech - Essaouira

 

After breakfast, we depart for the coastal city of Essaouira, a picturesque fishing town on the southwest coast of Morocco. With an exquisite beach to the south, Essaouira has become one of Morocco's most popular coastal towns. Many of the country's wood carvers and artists make Essaouira their home.

Day 12: Essaouira

 

After breakfast, we depart to Sidi Kaouki. The Berber village is located on the Atlantic coast of Morocco, 12 km south of Essaouira, and is a paradise for many surfers. This will be a free day in Sidi Kaouki.

Day 13: Essaouira - El Oualidia - El Jadida - Casablanca

 

After breakfast in the riad, we depart for Casablanca. On the way, we stop at El Oualidia. We drive along the coastline to El Jadida, where we visit the citadel and see the underground cistern. We then continue to Casablanca, where we will spend our last night in Morocco.

Overnight in a Hotel.

 

Day 14: Casablanca - Departure

 

Breakfast is provided in the hotel.  Later, we will transfer you to the Casablanca airport in time for your flight.
