The 4×4 desert tour takes you around the Erg Chebbi dunes with stops in small villages, chances to enjoy Moroccan desert wildlife, and the opportunity to meet a nomadic family and experience their hospitality. We begin the tour after breakfast, with our first stop in the town of Hassi Labied, where you will see a farm and its network of irrigation channels. From there, we continue to the Dayet Srji Lake near Merzouga that attracts herds of flamingos and wild animals when it forms in the spring. On our way to Khamilia, you can expect to see locals and desert mammals and reptiles. In Khamlia, known as the village of blacks who were slaves of Sudan, you will be greeted with Moroccan hospitality and a cup of tea (Berber whiskey) and enjoy the spiritual music Gnawa. From Khamlia, we will head to see the panoramic view of the golden dunes near the Algerian border. We will stop for a picnic in the shade of a tree before continuing to visit a nomadic family, who lives in a traditional Berber tent and cares for a herd of cattle, goats, sheeps, and camels. You will have a chance to meet family members and learn about their way of life over a cup of tea. We will then continue to the black volcanic rocks before reaching a panorama of the dunes and a lake near the Yasmina hostel. We will then return to your hotel for dinner and a chance to relax.
